Brian had (hopefully) his last surgery on Tuesday October 27, 2009. The surgery lasted from 7:30am to 9:30pm. We didn't get to see him until after 10:30 that night....it was a long day! He has been in a lot of pain, but it gets a little better each day. They rerouted a tendon from his big toe, and used a "flap" or huge chunk off of his left leg to put on his right heel. Then they used a few layers from his left leg to put on his right foot/leg area to cover the opening. As you can see from the pictures it was a big surgery. Please continue to pray for him evey time you think of him, it will be a long recovery!
Thanks!

Crazy times!

Well I have not updated the blog for awhile, things have been a little crazy to say the least. On September 11, 2009 Brian went in for another Achilles tendon repair. Things seemed to be fine for awhile, but then he could not get rid of a fever and after numerous trips to see his surgeon, I brought him to the VA in St. Cloud. While there four doctors looked at him and his leg, all agreed... it was a bad infection and he needed to be in the hospital right away! From there they put him in an ambulance and brought him to the VA in Minneapolis. He has been there now for a week and has had three surgeries so far. They had to take out the whole repair, which leaves him without an Achilles tendon. They keep doing cleanings to rid the leg of any infection. They are hoping that two more cleanings will take care of it. After that happens, some sort of reconstruction will be necessary, then plastic surgery will have to be done. As of now they are guessing two-three weeks more there. To make things a bit harder for me, we all are being treated for H1N1, along with my parents....not very fun! We are hoping to be well enough to go visit Brian soon, before his next surgery.
On a brighter note:
Boo is done with her helmet and has started crawling since the last blog....changes happen everyday with her!
Bugs has started pre-school and loves it.
Bear is in fourth grade, and enjoys his three male teachers this year (they rotate classes). He also just finished up flag football.
As for me, I am taking a class at St. Cloud State, and trying to keep up with the family.
Please pray for us, it is a challenging time right now. Thank you!
